Application Calendar, Deadlines, Priorities
Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20
The Mission and Vision Statements of Crean Lutheran South High School (CLS) along with the love of Jesus Christ compel us to reach as broad of a student population as possible in the ministry of educating young people in the light of Christ and God’s Word.
The following guidelines describe the priorities, policies, and practices of CLS in its annual process of admitting applicants.
Priority: If a potential student from a higher tier fails to register by the deadline listed for each tier, that student still retains a “first” priority potential in the succeeding tiers. However, the pool of potential registered students increases significantly at each tier. Once a student, even of a lower tier, is registered, higher tier students who fail to register may not “bump” them. Therefore, registration prior to the end of the "open window" for the student's tier isecommended.
Please note: Since all applications for each tier will be considered in chronological order of submission, students can ensure that their applications are at the top of their tier by submitting their applications even prior to the "opening of the window" for the tier for which they qualify.
Early application is recommended for all tiers because after qualified returning students, siblings, and students from partner churches and schools are admitted, the applications will then be considered in order of date and time the completed application and registration fee were marked received by the school office.
- First tier admission:
- Qualified returning students – by February 15
- Qualified siblings of currently enrolled and continuing students – by February 15
- Second tier admission:
- Qualified students belonging to Corporation churches (see bylaws) -- by February 22
- Qualified students attending schools associated with Corporation Churches in the year prior to their requested admission (Consideration will be given to students’ and families’ history of enrollment in and commitment to Christian education in the corporation schools.) -- by February 28/29
- “Qualified students” refers to students whose holistic educational needs can be met by the general academic and extracurricular resources and mission of CLS.
- Special needs/extra resource students. CLS will admit students with special educational needs that can be met by CLS's special education and resource staff and programs.
- Extraordinary admissions: Academic or leadership exceptions. Applicants who have demonstrated high academic interest and achievement, or who would enhance the culture and experience of CLS through high levels of discipleship, leadership, character, skills or interests may be admitted outside of the tier guidelines.
Non-discrimination Policy
Crean Lutheran South High School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to the students of the school. CLS does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-related programs.
