Market Survey
Based on the information generated in this study, it appears that there is major interest in the proposed Orange County High School with an estimated opening enrollment for the 2007/2008 school year of 662 students – well above the school’s opening enrollment goal of 450 students. This conclusion is based on the following study findings:
  • The market area contains an estimated 45,045 households with children in 5
  • th through 8th grades, in which 61,260 children reside. Approximately five percent of these households indicate they would be "very likely" and eleven percent "somewhat likely" to use the high school. These figures translate into a potential future student base of approximately 1,300 for the market area over the next several years – 662 in 2007, 1,143 in 2008, 1,299 in 2009.
  • The market area in which the school is located experienced growth of about eight percent between 2000 and 2005 and should experience continued growth of about seven percent over the next five years – above the national growth rate of about five percent over the same time period.
  • The factors considered most important by parents when selecting a private school are accommodated by the proposed facility.
  • The typical market area householder with children in 5
  • th through 8th grades is roughly 45 years old and earns an annual income of over $100,000 – well above the market average of $75,000. Further, 95 percent of target group households have both parents in the home and 52 percent contain two working heads of household.

In conclusion, given the current market situation, it is our opinion that the proposed Orange County High School represents a good opportunity and could attain its target enrollment goal of 450 upon opening. This opinion assumes a first class facility that is adequately promoted within the Orange County market area prior to opening.
