Crean Lutheran South also recognizes and respects the "enormous common ground of Christianity" (C. S. Lewis) and the rich heritage of the broader Christian Church.

Q - How is the school day structured?
A - Classes are in session Monday - Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  Starting and ending periods will be staggered to allow better traffic flow on Alton Parkway.   (Woodbridge starts at 7am & 8am.)  Most athletic teams meet during 5th period, which is 2:40 - 3:30pm daily. Crean Lutheran South's schedule is a modified block schedule. Students attend 4 periods per day (80 minute periods).  Modified Block scheduling allows for more flexibility, and leads to additional creative curriculum planning which a traditional bell schedule would not allow.

Q - What is Crean Lutheran South's educational philosophy?
A - At its core, Crean Lutheran South will be about proclaiming Jesus Christ through excellence in education. This means each faculty, staff, and administrative member is charged with teaching and modeling the Gospel message at all times, and in every way. The Lutheran Church has a rich history of success in doing so, as the Lutheran school system is the largest Protestant school system in the United States. Moreover, the U.S. Department of Education, in a recent survey, ranked the Lutheran system of private education highest academically among all other schools, including public, Catholic, charter, other Protestant, or other private schools.

Q - What will the school's curriculum offerings be?
A - Crean Crean Lutheran South High School will offer a comprehensive curriculum, including a full complement of honors and AP classes as well as access to online classes that meet or exceed California State Frameworks standards and satisfy the University of California's A-G list for college admissions and planning purposes. Q - What kind of athletic program are you planning?
A - The school is building a comprehensive athletic program that, with Christ as its cornerstone, its rock, and its absolute truth will spiritually, mentally, and physically maximize the gifts and talents of its participants to His glory. Crean Lutheran South is delighted to have hired Mr. Brian Underwood to direct this effort. Mr. Underwood has 20 years of combined NCAA Division I, II, and III coaching and athletic administrative experience at Cal Lutheran University, Cal State Fullerton, UC Irvine, and Cal Poly Pomona. To help ensure the department meets, if not exceeds, best practice expectations, Mr. Underwood has established an Athletic Advisory Council of some of the top collegiate and professional sports minds in Southern California to guide this process and the building of LSHS's athletic facilities. In its first year, LSHS will compete on the freshman and junior varsity levels as it applies for CIF sanctioned status. CIF leaguing parameters will dictate future league status. As its permanent site is being built, LSHS has been blessed to use the athletic facilities at Concordia University and Irvine Valley College for its practice and competition needs.

Q - What is Crean Lutheran South planning to accommodate students interested in the performing & visual arts, leadership, and club activities?
A - It is Crean Lutheran South's prayer that all students will find connectedness through the school's extracurricular program. Currently, the administration is in the process of hiring a first-rate faculty to guide each of these efforts. LSHS has in its master plan a design to incorporate a performing arts facility to house comprehensive choir, band, and orchestral endeavors, and 21st century, state-of-the art classrooms for maximum utility.

Q - Are uniforms required?
A - Crean Lutheran South believes that the student's appearance is important and has an impact on his or her attitude, behavior, and performance.  As a sign of mutual respect for one another and for the creation of an environment of safety and excellence in education, Crean Lutheran South has a dress and personal appearance code. All students are required to purchase a uniform from a designated vendor(s), which will be supplied in the acceptance notification packets.  A variety of uniform styles and costs will be available to provide choices in style and affordability for families and student preferences.  We believe that the presence of uniforms alleviates distractions, promotes unity, and establishes a norm that reduces stress and peer pressure associated with adolescent dress.

Q - Will Crean Lutheran South be a Closed Campus?
A - Yes. Once students arrive on campus for their academic day, they may not leave the campus without permission from the Attendance Office.  School personnel and our campus supervision team are visible during the day and evening when students are present to assist with supervision needs.  Parents are asked to pick up students in a timely manner when chool is dismissed to prevent loitering.  All visitors on the campus are required to check in and obtain a visitor's badge from the School Office prior to entering the campus.
